The Namibe harbour recorded its biggest operation since 1954. An impressive total of 52,650 tonnes of granite in bulk was shipped to Xiamen harbour, in the People's Republic of China. This export was carried out by the Angolan company Hipermáquinas.
Ornamental stone represents a vital segment of the Namibe's harbour maritime trade, contributing around 90 per cent of the total volume of goods handled. This milestone reflects not only the port's exceptional operational capacity, but also the growing international demand for this quality raw material.
This milestone not only emphasises the importance of the Namibe harbour on the international maritime trade scene, but also signals a promising future for the ornamental stone export sector in Angola.
